everyone know and let someone else take over this.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE A LISTOWNER
1) You have to be online fairly often, espicially with a busy list
2) You must know how to use mail
-----
How to start a list.
First, you have to have a topic for the list. Make sure that another list
doesn't exist that covers the same topic. The next step is to find a site
(this is assuming you are going to use a BITNET mailserver). The best way
to find a site is to do a 'list global' to any listserv and find those
sites that carry similiar lists (if you are creating a gaming list, find
other sites that have RPG lists). Send an email message to POSTMASTER at
the site explaining your desire to create a mailing list. Tell them if
you need to have past logs kept online (probably a good idea in general)
and if it is an open list (or if the listowner has to approve all
subscriptions). Keep shopping around until you find a postmaster that
will do it.
Once it is created, announce it on Usenet and on other related lists and
enjoy.
The duties of the listowner are fairly straight-forward. You will have to
deal with users who start bouncing mail and sometimes users are unable to
subscribe or sign-off and you will have to do it manually. This is in
addition to dealing with idiots who are being a pain in the ass.
Hope this helps. Have fun.
