Except in current day New Jersey, where the last time I heard, the
"Age of Consent" is 13. (Across the Bridge in New York, it's 21.)
Current day, the laws for this vary wildly from state to state. (In
fact, from what I've heard, in California, there are two differerent
Ages of Consent, one for males and one for females.)

I just remembered another item that can be added to the list for
speculation: Minnimum Marrying Age. In my home state of South
Carolina, for instance, current day, the minnimum marrying age is 12,
provided parental consent is given. It's something like 14 or 15
before you can marry without parental consent. NOT that I'm suggesting
that SC be used as a basis for what's reasonable on the matter.

Damn. I knew my information was a bit out of date, I guess New Jersey
and New York both changed their Ages of Consent since the last time I
heard anything about it. I could have sworn that California had two
different ages of consent though.

(BTW: Is this the first time on the ShadowRN List that Playboy has

In the UK, isn't there a different Age of Consent for homosexual acts?
I remember seeing something on the news about an attempt in Parliment
to bring it down to match the Hetrosexual Age of Consent. (The attempt
failed, if I remember correct.)

I suppose this could be another item to add to the speculation list,
unless everyone's too squeamish to talk about it.

yeah the heterosexual age of consent is 16
Male - Male age of consent is 21
Female - Female age of consent does not exist as far as I remember as the
Age of Cansent laws date back to Queen Victoria's reign and she did not
acknowlage that "women would stoop to such discusting acts" ! :) (despite
I'm sure being a closet lesbian herself along with adulteress but hey thats
my opinion :) )

age of marraige is 16 with parrental constent and 18 otherwise.

smoking is 16
buy alcohol is 18 (a drink with a meal in a restaurant is 16)(drinking any
alcohol is illegal under the age of 5 if I recall)

voting is 18

and I'm sure Spike in his (In)finite;) wisdom will correct me if I'm wrong
with anything.

Yes. It was 21, now it's 18.

It did. It got passed in the house of commons, but those idiots in the House
of Lords quashed it. The commons could push it through, but as it was part
of a larger "law and order" bill, they don't want to take the risk.

Heterosexual AOC here in Rhode Island is 18. It's 16 in Mass. Homosexual
sex is actually illegal and considered sodomy, even between consenting
adults (gotta love those blue laws...). Of course, not that it's
enforced, but every so often, it happens. Hell, if what Monica Lewinsky
did with the president had happened in Rhode Island, she'd be in jail
for "Obscene and unnatural acts".
