Actually, in _The Lucifer Deck_, there was the 'Mage Hood' (or something)
that was basically a heavy sack they stuck over mages' heads. It had a
smaall tube for breathing/drinking. The ear-spots were packed so sound was
muffled and there were no eye sockets. This lack of stimulii cut off
magicians since they can't target people without seeing their aura. As for
projecting...projecting while your body is in LS custody is asking for
death.

Now, anyone wanna disagree with me and start up a messy debate about how
magicians astrally perceive, whether they need their organic/cyber eyes or
not?
(This isn't meant to be offensive, but rather to sarcastically head off a
thread that would only enrage people and spam the list cause no one outside
of FASA really knows. Of course, there's the best answer one can give: Wait
until Magic in the Shadows...by then we'd all have forgotten)

I always had the feeling that eyes where not neccessary and a blind person
could astrally perceive (would make for an interesting character...) I
couldn't see how eyes where needed because cybereyes wouldn't be the same as
natural so perhaps only the essence of eyes would be needed. (how about some
marbles stuck in there, hey I paid .01 essence for em! :) The mage mask
would still be effective as it would be opaque on the astral. Just my 2
nuyen...

Well, there's really not much point in debating this. If you read through the SR2 books,
it becomes pretty obvious, even though it's not blatantly stated. Just look in the 2nd
Ed. SR Companion under the Edges and Flaws section for a prime example. Blindness is
worth significantly less points to a magically active character than a mundane. Why?
Because they can perceive astrally and aren't completely blind.

Besides, if your meat eyes were necessary to perceive through on the Astral, how would you
be able to see when you anstrally projected out of your body and no longer had your eyes
with you? :)

This is correct, according to the SRC(2): someone who is blind can still
astrally percieve, but this doesn't prevent a mask from blocking ASTRAL sight:
they can percieve the inside of the opaque mask just FINE, in fact.
