I was thinking of rewriting the Otaku from scratch as a sort of
artificial mage ... However, I recall something about people being really
touchy on whether or not otaku are magically active. Was this just
because of the penalty for mages in VR1?

My intention is to start over from scratch 1) to keep cannon otaku and my
"matrix mages" seperate; 2) It's easier then trying to patch what's
screwy and make the patches mesh with what isn't.

My intention is NOT to make these characters magical active (The title
"matrix mage" is just a temporary one until I work something better out)
... they just exhibit induced effects that resemble being magically
active.

Any suggestions before I start? (yeah, don't start.-Ed)

Should I leave this off the list? (I'd rather not since this is the best
place to discuss it.) If I should, anyone who is interest send me
PRIVATE email saying so. (All requests sent to the list will be
-IGNORED-)

If you're talking about what I think you're talking about then it sounds
alot like the carbon plague
from Cybergeneration. One of the types of the "Changed"is a "Wizard"
who
can interface directly with the net.
Then again, that sounds pretty much like the regular Otaku from VR
2.0....

Oh well, you may want to look at it anyway.
