Your emails keep showing up as having an attachment... means everytime I get
one I have to wait for it to be scanned for viruses

If you can't get rid of the attachment, can you let me know?

Thanks

Amusingly the attachments is a virus free certification

Huh? An attachment? Now that's weird... Does this message have one
too? If so, what does the attachment contain? (and can you send it back to me?)
Is anyone else getting attachments with my messages? Does anyone
know why?

I'm using Eudora 5.1 under Windows 2000, and my anti-virus is AVG.
Sorry for the disturbance, by the way.

I am using AVG as well. Your messages show up with a small text
attachment from AVG certifying that the mail is virus free. Kind of
annoying for those people who cannot accept mail with attachments,
such as a work account. Not sure how you'd disable that. I don't
believe my mail is picking that up, but I am using Yahoo. My Eudora
mail may cary a stamp like that too.

Great, thanks. Disabling the "certify outgoing messages" option
seems to solve the problem.

Alternatively, Eudora has a setting to put text attachments in the body. Of
course, if it's still virus checking and not attaching the cert, then
that's just as good. :)

The attachment is being added by the scanning software and not Eudora though

Not as far as I can tell. That message had just the standard headers, and a
plain text message ending with a Yahoo.fr advertisement. No multi-part or
attachments stuff that I could see.

It's probably a notice added by the virus scanner to let everyone know the message
has been scanned. Whether the recipient believes this or not is up to them, I think,
as anyone could add such a notice to a message...

The easiest way to guarantee virus-free messages is to get yourself a mailer that's
1) not targeted by e-mail trojans/worms/viruses/etc. and 2) can't execute scripting
languages. The other step is to learn to recognize those messages and delete them.

Or in your case put samples of the raw code into a new e-mail and send it
out again with some extra little comments interspersed through it :D

How do you mean? (I hope this is a reference to the time I quoted part of a
virus and mailed it to this list, not to the fact that you may have
received virus e-mails with my address on them -- which, I can assure you,
did not come from me.)

I can't remember, but it must have been. I'm guessing it probably was
around the time of one of the first of those viruses (Melissa?).
