I can't seem to find anything in the sourcebooks regarding maximum ages for
metahumans. Coming from a D&D background the assumption is that elves, for
example, live a great deal longer than humans, but in SR this doesn't
necessarily apply.

Does anyone know if there are any special age maximums for metahumans?

Thanks

In the Germany-Sourcebook I read, that Trolls can get (18*3=) 52 years old.
(Passus about the Troll Kingdom)

And I think that in either the Companion or the BasicRules of Shadowrun2
the life span is/was given

Dwarfs often live longer then 100 years old.
Elves live for hundreds of years.
Humans have a lifespan of about 55 years.
Orks have a lifespan of about 35 to 40 years old.
Trolls have a lifespan of about 50 years.

Keep in mind this is a worldwide average. In "rich" countries it's
probably higher (given a human lifespan of around 70 years old, I'd say add
30%). In the streets though, it's probably way lower, and in the shadows...
Well, unless you're very, very good and absolutely paranoid, chances are
you'll be dead before your 40th birthday, no matter what your metatype.

None that will come into play in SR, so it's something you can reasonably
ignore. You also have to keep in mind that none of the metahumans have been
around long enough to make a reliable estimate of their lifespans, though
guestimates appear in the SR1 and SRII main rulebooks (in the racial
descriptions).

If you consider Earthdawn as being a good guide for SR, though, here's the
typical lifespans for the four main metahuman races:

Dwarf: 100 years average, some reaching 150
Elf: 300 years average, up to 400 in cases
Ork: 40 years average, going to 60
Troll: 50 years average, 70 possible

Of course, this does not include such oddities as immortals :)

Speaking of which, aren't dragons supposed to be able to breed
with all Namegivers, resulting in immortals of all metatypes? And if so,
where are they?

if you were a dragon, and could breed with all Namegivers, who would you
bed? an Ork or an Elf?

Good point (not to even mention Obsisians, T'Skrang and the such).
But there are Humans, which are quite good looking too...

Third edition Core has this (and some other information) in a little
table in the Game Concepts chapter (c. page 47 I believe)

according to it:
Dwarf: more than 100 years
Elf : Several Hundred
Human: 55 years (worldwide)
Ork: 35 - 40
Troll: 50

I always take note of the "Human: 55 years (worldwide), wouldn't all
the other races be worldwide, which means your average healthy swedish
elf would be able to live for several hundred * 1.8 years

Thanks. I can't believe I missed that table!

If looks are all you're concerned with, then I have this feeling that all
metahumans are equally ugly if you're a dragon.

But, of course, the right answer to your question is: Whoever will increase
the dragon's power most.

Well, maybe this puter here is too old, and still has the Pentium 60 Bug,
but, well, yes.

I didn't calculate myself, but let WinCalculator to the work.

Oops. Well, hit the wrong key ;-D

After all, ti was just an estimate (and +/-2 years are easily within a
lifespan, aren't they?)

It's within the "good estimate" guideline I was given in college (that is, a
good guess is within 10% of the answer) but you do make me wonder why
someone would need to _estimate_ the answer to 18*3... :)

Personally I think humans are the best looking, but I might be biased.
