I was just wondering if anyone knew about the UCAS/CAS military split.

My question is which parts of the military went with which new nation.

eg. Marines, SEALS US Rangers etc.

I think it was a pretty even split when it came to personnel. The
people in whatever branch of the military would go where they came from,
or where they have the most invested (ie: where thier families are). A
buck private from New York just out of boot camp in Georgia, would
probably go back to NY.
I really don't think the CAS and the UCAS sat around the table saying:
"Okay, you take the Army, and we'll take the Navy, ofcourse the Marines
go where ever the Navy goes..." Although they would have made a big
stink over who got what as far as material from out west is concerned. I
mean, just who _does_ get the alien space ship they got over in Nevada?

Yoink!

split loyalties probably drew personel from the "north" and the
"south"
just as it did during the Civil War, to their respective homelands.

As far as the actual units, these could have been split based upon their
geographic location at the time (The Rangers in Ft. Lewis would have
stayed with UCAS, while the Marines in North Carolina might have stuck
with CAS). This however, is unlikely because they were volunteer
military and would have been more likely to follow orders from "on
High" which meant they would be re-deployed northwards or deactivated
altogether.

There is no reason that either side would not have their respective SEAL
Teams and Ranger Battalions etc. They could be called the same name on
both sides of the border, no matter which side kept the original units.

Just my two one-hundreths of a dollar ;)

Most US military personnel went over to the country that had their
preference, and from them each country seems to have formed units similar
to those the old USA had -- so there's UCAS Marines and CAS Marines, CAS
Navy SEALs, UCAS Navy SEALs, and so on.

It might be influenced by the physical location of the traditional
training area for the unit, though.

Actually, form my contacts in the Air Force there is really nothing there,
alien wise. Nevada is just a smoke screen. They DO have stuff scattered at
other places though. And a lot more of it than you would think.

Well, duh; Classic misdirection.... Makes sense whether or not there
actually _is_ anything to hide.

Umm, can we can this thread before it develops into a conspiracy theory
discussion? (Now that I've put my 2¥ in, anyway *grin*)

True, and honestly, regardless of whether there's aliens out ther e or not,
I wanna get into Groom Lake just to drool all over the pretty aircraft......
=)

Good movie BTW. Conspiracy Theory, that is. See it if you get a chance. Mel
Gibson's character has his apartment rigged so that he can get out through a
hidden hatchway and incinerate his ENTIRE apartment, without causing damage
to any other part of the building. It was mucho coolio...
