Hello, my SINless friends!

Recently, certain parts of the Matrix (well, Usenet, anyway) have been just
buzzing with talk about a couple new sourcebooks. Specifically, they're called
ShadowTech and ShadowBeat. However, no one seems to know much about one, and
the other was (or so I hear) dated for release last month. Anyone got any
paydata here?

BTW, these rumors have been circulating on rec.games.frp. Anyone who has Usenet
access and hasn't taken a peek would be well advised to do just that.

Your humble servant,
Smiling Wolf

Shadowbeat is a sourcebook that covers entertaiment, trideos, news, etc
in the world of 2050. I think they even had a program guide in the TV guide
format.

ShadowTech contains high tech gadgets stuff. That's all I know.

My stuff's at home, but they were solicited in Advance Comics for
February (CFS) and April (Threats).

Actually, I'd like to see an Austin sourcebook. I thought that the Aztlan
Sourcebook would have info in there about the divided city, but only a brief
mention of Austin was in there. Ah, well. If anyone has thier game set in
Austin, please post some details or info on how you see the Austin of
2056/2057. Or e-mail me.

Currently, my group is set in Dallas/Fort Worth, and it's only there because
I've been able to find a copy of the NAGNA a few months back in a used book
store.

According to my info, California Free State is due out this month (Feb.
'96). Super Tuesday is due in March, but they "convieniently" left out any
mention of Threats. They have a nice picture of the cover, though. ;-)

Some sources list Threats as May release.
The lastest info i saw was only firm over the two above and 'Super
Tuesday'[March as someone said] all other early 1996 releases seem to
have slipped.

Last GenCon, one of the "discussed around the water cooler" ideas at FASA
is to have a "Hot Spots" book about some of the troublespots in 205*.
Austin was one of the cities mentioned.

And, I'm running a SR game set in Houston in 2055 (they're about to see
the Bug City news coverage/coverup). If you want to take a look at my
notes, they're at:http://www-ece.rice.edu/~rickj/Shadowrun.html

Guidelines,

yes - although I think you could distill it down to
the phrase "Do some

research, use your imagination, apply some logic."
in the end.

I'm not trying to be difficult, I just really don't
see what you're

asking

for.

Adam

You're probably right. I think 'guidelines' is a
better word than 'mechanics'. All I was saying was
that after the basic guidelines you mentioned in
yesterday's post: "I'd be completely interested in
publishing a variety of 1-3 page

writeups

on various cities in The Shadowrun Supplemental --
just the basic

information such as Demographics, Government, Crime,
Politics, Corps,

Important Landmarks, Interesting Unique Things, and
Plot Hooks. I feel

the

above information is enough for any GM to start
fleshing a city out on

his

own, and there's /plenty/ of bars, clubs,
restaurants, etc in other

sourcebooks that can be easily dropped into any city
on the globe, with

a

few adjustments for regional colour.

Adam". That is an excellent idea for building the
framework of any city so Wizkids or FanPro doesn't
have to come up with constant info on every little
city. The GMs can do it and, this way, they'll be able
to stay within the Shadowrun universe guidelines. I
don't think you're being difficult. What I am asking
for is: some information GMs can use to build up the
framework of ANY city in which they wish to set an
adventure, allowing them a base from which to flesh
out that city. Maybe that information could be put in
the Game Information Chapter of the Mr. Johnson's
Little Black Book (Gamemastering stuff, maps, NPCs,
and all that other stuff GMs need)you're planning this
year?

Also, as long as you're doing a Shadows of Europe and
a Shadows of Asia, will you also do a Shadows of
Africa? And a Shadows of South America (to include
Aztlan)?

Well, wait. What about a sourcebook on the Middle East?

AFAIK, Rob would /like/ to be able to do more Shadows of... books in the future. At one of
the GenCon talks he was saying he'd like to fill in some of the blank spaces of the SR
world. Ideas mentioned have included areas like the forthcoming Asia book, Africa, Middle
East and South America. Mind you, since this is basically just a wish list of his and
there are bound to be other books that need doing, if they ever do decided to go ahead
with them they probably wouldn't turn up for a couple years yet. :/
