Anybody think a New York City sourcebook would make a good one? I for one
do and have a couple of ideas.

Comments?

I would like to see that. I think NAGRL and maybe even Target:UCAS
might say something about NYC, but I don't have either one so I don't
know.

Oh yeah! I set my SR game almost entirely here in NYC. I've come up with
things; tweaks, NPCs, geographical changes, rearranging neighborhoods and social
class boundaries, you name it. I'd love to see more stuff, as well as compiling
all my stuff into one book, official or otherwise.
Personnaly I think NYC is one sprawl that needs a sourcebook, (instead of a new
Seattle book...).

I suggest you to try get hold of a copy of the NAGNA, it has a section
over NYC in it.

Just take a look into the NAGNA, you will wonder what FASA did to NYC, its
probaly completly different from your version.

We've done a little work with New York in our campaign.
Most of the info is based on the brief write up in NAGNA, but we've added a
lot to the Hell's Kitchen area for a ganger campaign we just started.

I managed to con one of my newer players into trying to run SR so I can
play, and he decided that the Hell's Kitchen area apparently IS a gateway to
Hell!

There's this giant evil clown spirit that comes out at night and devours
anyone on the street.
Bull and I found this out the hard way when our two rival gangs staged a
midnight rumble that spilled into Hell's Kitchen.
We're the only two survivors of our gang now. :-P

Interesting concept IMO, I'll let you know more as we flesh the area out
more.

Neither do, but that doesn't stop T:UCAS from being damn near perfect.

IIRC there was a pretty good write up on New York in an earlier issue
of NAGEE.

No we don't need one for just New York. We need one for all the major cities
like Dallas, New Orleans, Atlanta, etc.... Not just little useless sections
in a larger book. Perhaps one that holds maybe two or three cites at a time.

Now, sorry, but this fragger makes IT look like a piker!
It's apparently some sort of seriously malevolent free spirit.
It karma and essence - it's like a hybrid spirit/vampire.

The NAGNA (not the NAGRL) has a chapter about New York City, which by the
time of SR is only Manhattan, the other bits having been forced out by
means of a lawsuit. Target: UCAS doesn't have any real info at all (it's
mainly about Boston, Detroit, and Chicago (again)). There's also an
article in one of the NAGEEs, but that one doesn't fit in with the NAGNA
chapter at all.

My advice for writing an article about NYC is to first get hold of a copy
of the NAGNA, or at least the NYC chapter, and base your text on that,
expanding it and adding to the history so it covers 2052 to 2058 as well.

Thanks, Gurth. I knew it was the NAGR? something...

Since the book is out of print, would it be allowed for someone to
send it to me?

Ummm actually NAGNA has a big section devoted to NYC.

I'd say FASA still owns the copyright to the material (until around 2040,
I believe)...
