I was just curious if any body has tried to get to the new fasa catalog
latley( as in the last 5 hours).
I've tried 2 different computers, with two different modems and either get a
" cannot establish a connection with the server" or a " this document
contains no data". How does this bode for their online sale tomorrow?

I got the same thing. I would bet they took the site down and will not open it
till tomorrow at 10am central time.

I was not able to actually get to the site until 845am (1045 CDT) and somehow
the order states that I managed to get one. I hope that I do not get another
soft cover.

That nice lady said that a whole bunch of people called and that some guy
was coming to take a look at the server. A few minutes later it came back
up. And I got my Confirmation number! Says hardback right on it. AFAIK, the
softcover is out of stock on the web page, so you can't get one there at
the moment.

Now that I have a BABY, can I get into the Elder's Resort? I have some
posts saved somewhere from 92-93 with Doc Doom posting verbose and The
Great Corholio getting carped like there was no tomorrow.

/me is giving himself a tentative carp, as he also has a confirmation number
and TWO printouts of his order confirmation. All this happened within a few
minutes of talking to the 'nice lady' of BABY-day ordering fame.

I wonder which'll get here faster (or actually get here, as the case may
be)... the softcover from Amazon, or the BABY from FASA?

BABY is and never has been an admission requirement. If you were on the
list since the hearn days and are of a certain age (I can't even remember
what it was, something like 25 or 23 or something) and have been playing SR
since SR1, then you are in simply for asking. If not...

Got in just when it switched over to SR2. But I was most definitley there
back in the Hearn days. Back when NERPS was at the FTP (Beelzebub or
something?) site only. Back when if you wanted the SR2 hardback you had to
walk 5 miles, in the snow, uphill, both ways... sorry, got carried away
there for a second.

And since I have been noticing how much older I am than the incoming
freshman here, I qualify for the age:(

So I guess its time to get the lounge chairs out and sun while I wait for
my baby to arrive!

I hate to complicate things but I need to know if I'm applicable. :)

I've been playing since the day after SR1 came out (took a day to read
the book). That's back in the good ol' days of rolling for each individual
shot in a burst (yummy!) and when the TN to resist a spell was the
Mage's Sorcery skill rating... Force 2 killer Fireballs were a-plenty. I'd
been on the list since way back when the first carp ever thwapped. I
was (and AM) a bigtime lurker.

Why's it complicated? I took a HUMONGOUS break from the list. About the
98235987th time I got removed from the list for posting on a topic that
was deemed DONE (mainly because my posts and retrievals were
separated by the 24 hours he'd alllow as a grace period), I felt I'd had
enough.

So.... does that count? :)

Get a good electonic disguise kit and claim to be an oldtimer?

Let's see:
1) I've played since late '89 (got into the first game I could, bought the
SR1 book shortly thereafter followed by starting the first of years of SR
campaigns. I have all the books except UB and have played through just
about all of them)
2) I am certainly over that age level (if not as far as some others)

Now if only being on the list (minus a couple of breaks here and there)
since early-to-mid 1995 were long enough...

You know, TGC actually intentionally posted things *just* so he could have
Herr Doktor thwap him. He reveled in it, but perhaps he was something of a
carp masochist...

Sorry, can't be opening up the Resort to just anyone.

Regardless of the delay, if you were on RN when it was hosted on Hearn,
were playing SR when it was still SR1 AND are a certain minimum age (which
I can't remember right now; must be having a senior moment), there's a
lounge chair and the most advanced carp shielding anywhere, even better
than Gurth's (though not as extensively tested...).

It's a mite silly, it's a bit elitist, but us old-timers have to have
someplace to go when the arthritis hits, or to recover from hip replacement
surgery, or when the part-timers disease gets bad, or when you just get
tired of all the whippersnappers...

Oh, BTW, it's not the best place for it, but while I'm thinking about it,
thanks to Geoff and GRANITE and all the rest that provided info and advice
and whatnot regarding running a game at a Con. As I said earlier, it all
went off great.

No. When she gets tired of putting up with you ;-) she can escape to the
resort and lay by the pool and be served little cocktails with umbrellas in
them by Wyrmy, the Resort's proudest cabana boy.

Nope. Just means you get a senior discount at the movies...and we do

Sounds kind of elitist to me, and I've been here since '93. (rhyme
unintended) Doesn't sound too welcoming to the new folks either. Should
we all present copies of our first post to get our senior discount and
"I've been here longer" argument winners?

Hmmm...

I was on the list when it was at Hearn (though I was mostly a lurker
since I couldn't keep up with the traffic). I've been playing SR
since 1990. And if the certain minimum age is 23 or 25, I well and
truly qualify.

Can I be in too? :)

Call me a party pooper, but who gives a rat's ass? As near as I can figure
out from the bits on inanity I get when I'm too bored _not_ to read them,
you're arguing about admission into a fictional country club, based on
arbitrary requirements, and none of it has ANYTHING to do with Shadowrun,
unless you count the fact that some of us still use different rules that have
appeared in the various incarnations of the game.
Hey, I remember the Big Blue Book, including the pictures of the metahumans
back when they were described in cold clinical terms in a section that began
with a picture of an ork flipping us off by sticking his finger up his nose,
and I remember looking at the picturesw I wondering why they coulldn't show
them to scale, or at least have everyone stand in the Leonardian pose with
their arms outstretched, instead of just the humans and the elves.

This is pointless, completely off-topic, and even been shot down before
because it was off-topic. I, for one, would remind you that there is no
ressurection in Shadowrun. Let the damn thread die!!!!

You mean when there was still a Bitnet...?

Wow.

I was there then, but I left for a long time. I've been playing since first
edition...and I'm...over 25. :-) That is, I was on the list back in '93.

Ask around. I'm sure there are witnesses.

Does that count?

Okay, you're a party pooper.

Hey! Leave my ass out of this, thank you very much!

Okay, okay. So I just got back on the list, everybody else
was answering it (no, I wouldn't jump off a cliff if everybody
else was doing it) and I figured it would be fun. At least
I'm not talking about the Spice Girls!

Apologies if I ruffled any feathers.

OB SR: I'll be running a contest with a BABY as the prize
on my web page. Check in tomorrow evening for details if you're
interested.
