I used to play 40K quite a bit, but the guy that was
running it (and willing to spend that much money on all the
miniatures :) got a "real" life.

The only game I play on a consistent basis is BattleTech.
We just started a campaign where we're mercenaries and
everyone takes turns running scenarios. So far so good.

Blood Bowl, huh? Sounds interesting. The table top's that I play are
Warhammer 40K, (but it's just too damned expensive! :-)) and Legions of
Steel. I like the latter better, well, just because, but i can't find
anybody else out there (sans friends who introduced it to me) who plays
it. :-+

I think it can be, unless you play it against the person I played it
against -- a GW store manager, who felt like he had to beat me at it
despite knowing that I'd never played it before. Not a good way to convert
people to buying the games you're selling, IMO. (I'm not saying he should
have let me win, but he also shouldn't have screwed me over with every
little rule that exists in the game...)

I started gaming with BattleTech, but I haven't played it in quite some
time, mainly because the people I RP with now don't like wargames :(

Have you tried SVGA online mechwarrior yet? Lot's of fun.

Blood Bowl is a lot of fun, even if it's the Brit's did make it.
Rule number one: never trust the Brits to make a game based on US
football. It's really worth it if you can find the game, it's
currently out of print.

Haven't tried LoS yet, but wouldn't mind trying it out for laughs.
I'm what is known as a game whore, I'll play any game once and the
fun ones a lot. <G>

If nothing else keep an eye on rec.games.miniatures.warhammer
There's lots of stuff sold in there. Otherwise, just send me your
list and I'll poke around at 3rivers con for you Bull. Last year,
they had tons of old citadel figures.

That's the way a lot of people played Magic:tg in my little neck of the
woods. Most of the newbies didn't play after that first game. That's
why I like RPG's, because it's really hard to GM to win. I don't care
for people like that too much.

I have a friend who's really getting into Battle Tech right now, but he's
still learning all of the rules. It's still fun blowing the drek out of
everything in sight tho.

Why not? The Americans made a crappy cartoon about REAL football.
I imagine that was even WORSE.

(At least bloodbowl is SUPPOSED to be a mickey-take...)
[NOTE: This in no way implies that I've even ever played Bloodbowl, or would
want to. I hate GW. (The only game I do like from them is Talisman)]

I remember that. It was about some 'futbol' team that travelled around
the world, playing in matches, and getting into wacky adventures [sort
of like Scooby Doo, without the dog, Shaggy, The Mystery Machine, or the
guy who says '...and I would have gotten away with it too, if it hadn't
been for you meddling kids!'.

That's just the way that whole sect is. Offering big money on "the
pro tour" just made the whole thing worse. I used to enjoy Magic,
but find myself playing it less and less because of the people.
