I'm low on cash these days. Is Harlequinn's Back and the Street Samurai
Catalog worth getting?

You sure do ask a lot of questions, not that that's a bad thing, necessarily.
Anyway, the SCC is a "must-have" in my opinion, adds new weapons, some cyber,
etc. Even a monosword for those who think it matters.;) I don't have
Harlequin's
Back but from what I've heard about it, it certainly isn't something for
GM's or players that are just beginning the game. As others have stated, you
should probably load up on all the "basic" sourcebooks, a few of the chatty
information types, like Lone Star.

Hmmm... Depends on the group you've got...

Harlequins back is probabl;y NOT worth it... at least not over other
sourcebooks... And as a personal preference, i'd take FoF over the SSC...
But it is worth getting.

HB is a book you should carefully consider before buying it: you'll need
experienced players and good GMing skills, plus the desire to play a "save
the world" campaign of large proportions. Access to the Grimoire is also a
must, IMHO. If you can't answer all of those with "yes," I think you'd
better stay away from it for a while.

The Street Samurai Catalog has been talked about a lot the past few days,
and I'd say you only need it if you want to know what extras come with
which guns. Most of the time, you can make do with the sourcebook
conversions from the back of the SRII rules.

What about the new cyberware and the beta/alpha/used cyberware rules? Isn't
that where the APDS ammo comes from, and don't they have a different type of
gryo-mount? Shock gloves, bows&arrow (or is it an x-bow), the rangefinder,
and someother cool stuff I can't remember right now.. Even though it is a
small book, I think it's pretty vital. Unless they reprinted those rules in
one of the new books.

Well.... They are all listed in the back of FoF, or even the 2nd Ed.
book. The only thing you get in SSC is tehdescriptions of these items...
And most newer groups won't need Alpha or Beta ware for quite some time.
Plus the cyberware rules are all in Cybertechnologies...

SSC is a good book, but IMO, not the most becessary for a new GM.

Almost all the game data is in the back of the SRII rulebook, which
especially for guns is just about all you need. The cyberware, yeah,
you'd need to get the SSC itself for the rules for that, though the rules
for alpha/beta/etc. are also in Cybertechnology. On the whole I'd still
say it's not a must-have sourcebook anymore IMO -- it was five years ago,
though.
