Let's get something staightened out here.
FASA did NOT steal anything from CP 2020.
They both ripped off Bill Gibson and Bruce Sterling, and many other
Movement/New Wave writers.
Anyone playing SR, or CP 2020 who has not at least skimmed Neuromancer,
Mona Lisa Overdrive, Burning Chrome, and Mirrorshades is seriously short
changing their enjoyment of these games!
Do a little homework into the origin of the cyberpunk genre, it's well
worth the effort.

Again, read Gibson's Rickenharp story, or Synner from the Mirrorshades
anthology.
Rock and the counterculture are basic elements of cyberpunk.
They fit hand in glove.
I agree that a Rocker makes for a very silly member of a regular
shadowrunning team, but they are definately a vital part of the world.
IMHO, CP 2020 did a much better job fitting the Rockerboys into their
game thatn FASA did with the Rocker Archetype.

If anyone is interested, I could post my rather long list of cyberpunk
"Required Reading".

If you have to ask then it's probably classified.
Which means that I have to follow protocol.
But if you ask nicely I might forget that you asked.
Then again maybe not.

Actually, Rickenharp is a character from John Shirley's _Eclipse Trilogy_,
one of the more underrated cyberpunk classics, probably due to its overtly
political message and its low-cyber/high-punk quotient.

No problem. It's a pity how many of today's cyberpunk fans have no idea who
Shirley is, or have even read _Eclipse.

Three Ring Psychus (out of print and a very early work)
Noir (or something like that, a collection of hard boiled detective stories,
I don't have it, but I've seen it)
