about two weeks ago i read an article about bandwidth and different ways of transmitting
data, i dont remember the company name but, they are developing a way to use ordinary
powercables to carry data, and they are talking about an EXObit connection (18 zeros).
although not the first 10-20 years.
im not talking about the current technology of using powercables, that technology utilises
the magnetic field around the cable
btw. in the future just about anything is going to be online, for instance the office
coffemaker, if its running out of coffe or its got faulty wiring, or theres somthing wrong
with its water hookup, it can call the right people by itself and include a quick
selfdiagnostic, or if it cost money to use it it can automatically deduct your account.
try and look into the concept of pervasive computing.
IBM got a department dedicated to this concept, its headed by a guy called Mark Bregman,
he sometimes says interesting stuff, just about the only major hardware company whos not
moving beyond PCs is Intel.
