I know it's out there. Has anyone seen it? If you've seen it, have you
bothered to buy it? If you've bought it, have you bothered to read it? If
you've read it...well, don't hold back. Tell us what you think.

Yeah, the store I go to had it last week. They said its been selling really
well, much better than "The Matrix". I didn't buy one because they actually
were in danger of running out of copies, and I'll be getting mine in the
mail.

What I saw of the pre-print manuscript was really well written, as good as
"Corp Download" with a snappier format (more shadow comments, shorter
essays, brief cool rule section at the end). When I saw it at the store, I
was suprised how THICK the book is (I forget the page count, but like rigger
2)- there seemed to be a bit more art than, say, M&M, or even TheM, but its
also just coveres a LOT of subjects, deeply.

I ordered mine from FASA, 7$ shipping on 20$ book <sigh>

It had a similar "feel" to Corp DL, but yes, it was nicer to have the
shorter sections and more shadowtalk. Still not a lot of "dissenting"
shadowtalk though, primarily people adding to the material/ agreeing with
it. The rule section is primarily host stats and such, but useful.

You've got;
Grids: over view of several different grids, including Magicknet and
UCASOnline.
DataHavens: Nexus, Shadowland, Azziewatch (was decent, but too focused on
the actual haven as opposed to more of what they're finding), Manchester
(fighting against the evil despots of the world, with a special focus on
Tir na nOg) The only complaint I have is that (as I mentioned on Azzie)
the stuff focuses on more of the "how it's run" than "what they're
finding or archiving". The section would have been a good place for
"metaplot" advancement IMO.
Virtual Seattle: covers some of the sites in Seattle, mainly corporate
stuff. Good flavor, good reading, I liked it overall.
Hosts: Hacker House, Lone Star, Z-O, + a couple more. Also has run down's
on "Gaming Hosts" "Matrix Brothels" and "Matrix Clubs"
(Dawn of Atlantis is the Evercrack version, and pretty funny, but I'll
not say anything else :-)
Persona's: short profiles on some matrix guys.
Open Forum: my favorite part, but too short. Has an open chat about some
anomalies.
Organizations: Corp Court, Dead Deckers Society and a few others. I liked
the DDS, but that's about it.

134 pages, if it matters :-)
The artwork fits in the "sourcebooks" I guess :-)
I liked the artwork overall. It wasn't the best artwork, but it was as
horrid as some of the art gets in the books.
Overall, good book, but enthusiasm is tempered somewhat by the fact that
it's the first SR book since August.

Got my in the mail today, so far i must say it is very good. I have read
about half of it so far. This is not a rule book if you wanted rules you
should have bought Matrix instead this is a sourcebook and it contains
quite alot of fun and interesting info (atleast so far and I don't think it
will take a dive in the end).

Scariest picture in the book, is in the chapter that deal with
cybersex/brothels. A troll with the troll version of the karma sutra ...
yickes ... But there are alot of really nice b/w drawings by Prescott.

For all of you in waiting i'll have the cover up on the archive by the end
of the night (hopefully).

This is the exact division that Mike M has carried through. You have
"rulebooks" without shadowtalk and such, then "sourcebooks" which are
almost entirely setting and minimal rules (the rules in T:Matrix aren't
even really rules, unless you count the table for the NooseNet. The rest
is stats for a couple things.)

All in all, I like the trend, and the new Rulebook's ARE easier to use
(with the exception, for myself, of M&M, the layout of which just doesn't
"agree" with me.)
I'd say the old way was good, and the new way is good. The streamlining
is an improvment in many regards.

Many people liked Laubenstein, but I'm kinda glad to see no "bubble
people" :-)
