Nah I wouldn't worry about that too much. Do to some bad business =
decisions and really bad PR they've just about put themselves out of =
business. They probably couldn't even afford to pay the court costs to =
file the suit, forget affording a decient lawyer.
Everyone cheer for the death of the Evil Empire(tm) although it is a shame =
about the RPGA though. Oh and on a side note I have been hearing rumors =
that TSR will be cancelling Euro Gencon this year and that this year may =
be the last Gencon ever unless someone else takes over it (TSR owns both =
if you didn't know). These Rumors are Unsubstantiated but a number of my =
friends were on TSR payroll as Regional and National directors of the RPGA =
and every one of them has been laid off as well as all but 1 or 2 of their =
game developers in the last 2 months. Apparently TSR is really hurting for =
cash. If you are a member of the RPGA Polyhedron is dead and your =
subscription will be replaced with a Dragon subscription.

Their not a game company but Marvel Comics has filed chapter 11 to
reorganize and generate cash to pull themselves out of a crunch. This is
an increasing trend in general and something I hope will end soon. I
don't think the American economy is in great shape right now. Now is this
a dip or a dive?

I know some guys who are going to really hate that. Some friends of mine
play Star Wars, though it's not something I've gotten into (as if one
game doesn't take enough of my time:)

Perhaps they should simply stop producing the one game?

I thought the thing with the Macross pics had already been settled, one
way or the other? What I'd heard was that Palladium was suing them for
using the same pics they were using for their Robotech game, even though
FASA had a legit license for the Macross pics...FASA is supposed to be
reducing their use of the pictures anyway, though, from what I've
heard...bear in mind, of course that my info is at least as suspect as
your own (probably more so, I got mine off of Usenet:)

Yeah, count me in there... I like the SW game... (And I have NO idea how
many games I play, but it's a hell of a lot more than one...:))

Yeah, right... Marvel should have cancelled 2/3 of it's titles, and TSR
should have gotten rid of most of their stuff long ago, but game companies
keep pumping this crap out...

Isn't that why BattleTech 4th edition has come out, replacing the plastic
'Mechs[1] with cardboard counters once again? And Tech Readouts 3025 and
3026 getting put together into one new book, to remove the disputed
designs from the game or something...

Didn't they just get bought out by some other company? As for TSR, I
think I read somewhere they've sold parts of themselves to the company
that used to print books for them (I believe -- going from memory here).

I don't know, I don't think I ever saw the third edition...

I dunno, I think I'd prefer plastic figures to cardboard cutouts, myself,
I'd think (unless they were really, really tiny) because they'd be easier
to find when they hit the floor due to some extraneous accident:) OTOH,
since I don't know what these figures look like:)

Gurth might have been refering to the fact that they're really poor
models. The ones that I have are full of mold errors and such (parts
that are malformed due to an uneven distribution of the plastic, or air
bubbles, or things missing...), not to mention being pretty much
impervious to 'super-glue'.

I looked at a set someone else bought once, and I myself got the
BattleMechs box with the 12 plastic models that came with 3rd ed BT. I'm
still happily using 2nd ed, though :)

They look OK (though suffering from a few sink and ejector pin marks and
a lot of flash), but the damn stuff is impossible to glue with anything...

I must have had a set that came out of the mold better than usual :)

> not to mention being pretty much impervious to 'super-glue'.

Impervious to any glue... At first I thought they were molded in soft
polystyrene, but when I came back to them the next day (after glueing the
parts together) I found out they weren't :(
