Not that I know of, yet. I belief the kind gentleman putting it together
is waiting on more votes. once they are tallied, I don't know in what kind
of format he is going to release them.

If no one else does, I'll get back to you on that. I gotta go to work
soon so I don't have time to dig through books.

Check out Wordman's page at http://www.flashpt.com/lward/
I think he's got a SR world map there, or a link to one.

I would say the Mexican freedom fighters definatly do. If you want
Aztechnology seem more oppresive, you can have them ban it in your game.

Note: Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican independence day (September 16, 1810).
It is the day that General Ignacio Zaragoza and a motley army of 5,000
mestizos and zapotec indians defeated Napolean III's well-equipped French
Army in 1862 near the town of Puebla.

Cinco de Mayo is more of a Chicano holiday than a Mexican one, and more
widely celebrated in the U.S. than in Mexico. As is usual with the U.S.,
Cinco de Mayo has become very commercialized through the years.

But as it represents the spirit of mestizos and indios (always under
adversity), I think it would be unlikely to be banned in Azatlan, which
hearkens back to its indigenous roots.

Correct, not so strict in a history sense but very acurrate for even a
mexican.
Didnt came to my mind that you think that it was the I day, my mistake
:-)

Not realy, in Mexico we celebrate the day, is in the calendar, the
collage made representations, free labor day. thinks like that. I dont
know how the Chicanos celebrate this.

I could said Mexicanos in general, said other wise its racist. Be a

As I said before, it's all in my head and email at this stage. What I
intend to do is post it to the list when it's finished (eventually :) )
and then, if someone wants, they're welcome to put it on a page. I,
personally, can't do that. Who knows? If it gets its own site (and
someone reminds me) this could become an annual thing. :)

Oh, and Damon? Kind gentleman? *snort* That's a good one, that is.

On reflection, that's similar to my take on the matter, but not quite
the same. See, I know squat about Mexico, except for its physical
location. I DO know Aztlan, though, and other, more overtly oppressive,
governments.

IMNSHO, Aztlan would not overtly ban Cinco de Mayo - at least, not
originally. They would have created their own 'Independance Day', the
day when "Aztlan" came into being. They would have had all this
symbology and parades and all sorts of things like that to indoctrinate
people into the 'Aztlan' myth. Cinco de Mayo would lose its status as a
public holiday (if it was one) - there would be no parades, no floats,
no fireworks, no parties, or whatever it is they do to celebrate. In
certain cases, they may have actively 'discouraged' celebration of it
(in the areas where they were big on Mexico). Over time, people would
probably have forgotten it, or it would have diminished in meaning.
Eventually, Aztlan may have actually banned celebration of it,
especially if there were a lot of die-hards who still observed it.

Like Damon said, though, 'Mexican' freedom fighters would still
celebrate it, banned or no.

It's the old magician's trick. Show someone something with one hand
while you do something else with the other. In this case, they shove
their own big celebration into people's faces and while they're
distracted, they take away Cinco de Mayo and anything else that could
possibly 'inspire rebellion'.

*Doc' wonders if that trick works in strip bars...*
