sick of me yet? *grin*

The books tell of the 6th age. I also have heard speak of the 4th and I
believe the 2nd. What exactly were each of the ages and what marked
their passing?

Ok, we know next to nothinga bout the 1st-3rd ages. Just how it goes.

4th age is Earthdawn. If you have the game, read that to understand.
Otherwise, you might want to pick it up... its a pretty good game, and can
give you ideas for games (I had one Shadowrunning group go kaer-raiding...
though they didn't know that).

5th age is now. Magic is weak, life is normal

In 2011, on the 24th of December, the 5th world Ends. The sixth world,
with all the magic, mayhem, and metahumans begins to take shape in that
time.

The 2nd, 4th and 6th ages are all ages of magic. The 2nd age was the Age of
Dragons, the 4th was the Age of Magical Thought(Earthdawn). And the 6th age
is the current Shadowrun. The passing of the ages is marked when the last
Great Dragon settles down to hibernate.

Just a note of curiosity here. If anyone recalls the litany that Ehran the
Scribe gave to a YET meeting (found in some article years ago), everyone
might want to recall that Ehran had the years mixed up by about 50 or so I
think. Can anyone who still has this article confirm/deny please? Yes, I do
have a reason...

As many others have said, the even-numbered ages (AKA worlds) are where
magic is possible (the mana level is positive or high enough, depending on
how you look at it and/or who you talk to), whereas the odd-numbered ages
are those where magic cannot exist. We now live in the 5th World.

The beginning of an even-numbered age is marked by the first sighting of a
dragon, while the end of each even-numbered age is when the last great
dragon goes to sleep. The Fourth World ended on 12 August 3113 BC
(Atlantis sank on this date), staring the Fifth, which ended when the
Sixth World began on 24 December 2011. This in turn will end on 4 April
7137. (All this, BTW, is from a speech by elven author and Prince of Tir
Tairngire, Ehran the Scribe, brought to us by FASA in some of their early
flyers for Shadowrun.)

calculation, which even he admitted was off by a few years.

I have two of these articles that are almost the same, but with some small
differences; one is from a 1990 flyer I own, and the other is an
electronic one somebody copied from a 1991 flyer. I don't think the
differences are in the years mentioned, though. (The dates mentioned in
the 1990 flyer are those I posted a few days ago, BTW.)
