This theory, called Hydrostatic Shock, works great ... in theory.

Sure. How about a calcification effect and then an elemental air
effect ... call it "Shatter".
It calcifies the target for an instant (going against Will) and
then hits them with, oh, elemental air ball to shatter their form.

Unless I'm gravely mistaken, isn't this the same effect that you'd get
from a 1st ed. Petrify and a Powerball (or Powerbolt)?

Sure, but unless you have 1st ed., then you don't know that do you? Did 1st
ed. have the elemental effect of blast?
