It makes sense that certain ranged modifiers such as visibility and cover would apply to
the target of a Distance Strike attack, but I'm wondering what people thing about the +2
running target and -1 standing target modifiers. Also, can an adept spend simple actions
to aim more precisely with his/her distance strike?

The text for Distance Strike strongly suggests it's all exactly the same as
normal melee combat, so ranged combat modifiers shouldn't really apply, I
think (though I agree about cover and visibility -- you can't punch what you
can't see, after all).

I'd say not, unless you also allow aiming in melee combat.
