Subject: Adepts and Background Counts?

I've had a look through the different books and I can't seem to find anything that says
adepts are affected by background counts. Mana warps yes, backgrounds not so. All other
magicians are penalised for doing magic in an areas with a background count, so I just
assumed adepts were as well until I checked.

So, are there rules for this that I just missed or aren't they affected at all? Cheers.

Hmm. Off the top of my head I can't recall any such rules, no. Since the
majority of Adept's Powers focus inwards (affecting their own systems and
bodies), it could be argued that external background counts don't affect
them. Also, for those Powers that do have an external effect, such as
Distance Strike, they usually modify how another skill or whatever works (in
this case Unarmed Combat). Would you propose to apply the Background Count
TN modifier to the Unarmed Combat skill test? This could get a little
difficult sometimes, seeing as how Adept Powers aren't as simple as "a
Sorcery Skill Test" every time. It's probably easier if Adepts aren't
affected by Background Counts in the same way as magician's who use
primarily external magics.
