Well, in case many of you are wondering why I have not been very good at
responding to messages in the past weeks, I thought I'd let everyone
know. I'be been patiently (hah!) waiting for my son to be born for 2
weeks now .. at long last, the waiting is over. I'm the proud father of
a bouncing baby boy. I'm going to do my best to get back in the swing of
things withingin the next week or so, but bear with me if it takes a
little bit longer.

Here's the details, just in case anyone cares:

name: Zachary Carter Imbriaco
weight: 7lbs, 14oz
length: 20in
DOB: 1/31/97, 22:34 EST

Well..Congrats..At least you put the stem on the apple.. ;)

Hold on there pard....My suggestion..From the voicew of
experiance...Take at a minimum 2 weeks off..Take a couple of minutes
to put all your email stuff on hold..This few minutes and those 2
weeks will save you years of recriminations and hard feelings...Trust
me...I went the other way..That was 12 years ago..I still hear about
it!! Women NEVER forget..You'll be 70 and she will still bring it
up...Take that couple of weeks and spend all the time you can with your new
family..Then she will know you care..Remember you still have the
post-partum blues to go through...believe me..We will all still be
here..and all the lists I have ever heard about have some form of
log you will be able to sort through later...And by the end of the 2
weeks your wife will be more than happy to have you out of her
hair...And when she finally does force you to sit down in front of
your machine..get a couple of those pics you have take of you new
son..and scan them in and send them around!!

> Here's the details, just in case anyone cares:

> name: Zachary Carter Imbriaco

Z.C.I. Hmmm No accidental words or acronyms...Good..Zachary
Carter...Easy to yell when he finally does start getting into stuff
you would rather he didn't...And an instant nickname Zac..I have a
nephew who shares this name..He is a red headed terror ;)

> weight: 7lbs, 14oz

Respectable weight..Not too big..not too small..

> length: 20in

Hmmmm...A basket ball player....

> DOB: 1/31/97, 22:34 EST

Not too bad..Just about far enough from Christmas most people won't
try and combine a Christmas/B-day present...Some will anyway but not
all..ANd he will be able to have friends over to a B-day party since
at least 1 payday should fall between Christmas and the 31st...
Somebody has to think of these things... ;)

And I want to again say Congrats..I'll have a virtual stoggie in your
honor :)

Congrats Mark :) I think you deserve some time off, because if you don't,
your wife will never forgive you ;)
I can hold up this end of the list, as long as you don't let the machine
fall of teh desk or something..so go outside and ask the street really
nicely not to explode this time, ok? :)
In all seriousness(err..is that a word?), you should spend as much time as
you can possibly stand with Zach now, so his first words aren't 'Daddy is a
computer nerd' :)

Seconded (or thirded, who's counting!)

For the sake of the gods, take all the time you need. The last thing we
need in here is a grumpy father. Father Nature is about all we can deal
with right now.

Ummm... Mark, before you go to enjoy being a father, make sure that the
list sin't going to crash. Two weeks of no ShadowRN posts could drive a
few of our acquaitances sane. <waves at Bull, and Spike> (who have I
missed? Oh yeah the rest of the guys!) <grin and duck>

Nah. Do what my uncle did with my cousin. Teach him to use the damn thing
as soon as he can hold the mouse. Another computer wiz in progress, a year
ago, he knew more than his mother... At 6 years, that kids scares me!!)

Now, go give Zachary's mom a nice foot massage...

Spike enlightened us with these words of wisdom:
>Yeh! You never know, you could have the first Otaku in the USA...

On an ammusing side note: I read in DENVER how the name for Otaku came from
the Japanese Otaku-zaku, which had been applied (they don't explain why) to
an anti social group of computer geeks in the 1960's and '70's.

Curious if it was true, I spent all of 1 minute on Alta Vista. I didn't
find out about the 60-70's, but I did find out that the term Otaku in the
modern age applies to anime fanatics.

Interesting, no?

Oh dear, I had better add my congrats to the list. I haven't been around
and I humbly apologise. Ah, to be blessed with a new-born son! (Actually,
that's a tortology isn't it? How can there be an old-born son?) :)

Congrats to you, Mark. Good luck raising the kid, just make sure he
doesn't find out about the list right away. We'd hate to have him picking
up on our bad habits, after all:) If you have to take time off, take time
off. Let you family be your first priority, as it's been said before, in
two weeks or two months or however long it takes, we'll still be here, to
welcome you back and keep you on your toes (as if brand-new kid won't do
that on his own;) So, Congratulations and Good luck, prepare to have your
sanity given a run for its money:)
