As some of you may know, we have been having problems running into the
500 user limit that is imposed by the free version of Listserv that we
are running the lists on currently. As I am no longer directly involved
with iTRiBE, I have decided that it is best to move the lists to a
whole new server/network that I have direct control over.

With that in mind, I've secured another server to host the lists, and
I'll be getting that all setup over the coming weeks. I expect to
announce a total migration of the lists from iTRiBE to the new server
in mid-to-late November. I'll keep you posted as things develop.

Pretty smooth. It was originally the idea that the Hearn list would get
shut down and everybody would have to resub to the new one at iTRiBE, but
after a bit of prodding J.D. caught on to the idea that it should be
possible to simply move the entire list of subscribers to the new list and
be done with it.

As a matter of fact, Mark has changed the listserver software at least
twice since the move to iTRiBE, and it all went very well from my POV (the
fact you apparently didn't notice testifies to that :)

Why do you want to know?

Load the ShadowRN.Index file and search that for your email address or
what you used for your "Name Field" (back then). The articles will have
a date. When looking in the archive all the archives are numbered like
this (IIRC):

aabbc

Where 'aa' is the two digit year (uh-oh, ShadowRN isn't Y2k compliant ;)
of the posting, 'bb' is the month, and 'c' is a letter a-e. to find what
'c' should be, divide the DAY of your posting by 7 (I think). If the
result is equal to or less than:
1, 'c' should be 'a';
2, 'c' should be 'b';
3, 'c' should be 'c';
4, 'c' should be 'd';
otherwise, 'c' should be 'e'.

I haven't got archive dive down perfectly yet so this may be off.

It's not moving from one LISTSERVER to another I was curious about.
I remember the move from listproc to majordomo to listserv-lite.

It was the move from one SITE to another that I missed by a month.

Bad. We went through three different software packages to handle the
lists, and two different mail transfer agents before everything was
working right. I'm kinda hoping to avoid that this time around though.

The reason I mention that is because if a move from one listserver to
another goes smoothly, then a move from one site to another shouldn't be
much different, except for the small matter that you have to remember a
new address (and/or update your address book).
