Subject: ADMIN: New Assistant Fearless Leader
Date: Thu, 6 Jul 1995 01:19:09 -0400
As of this evening, I've officially taken over from our good
friend Doctor Doom as Assistant Listowner of the ShadowRN, NERPS,
ShadowTK, and Plot-D mailing lists.
In case you missed the messages, this is because Doctor Doom will
be losing his 'net access soon due to educational complications (he's
graduating from the university that provides his account.)
Basically, everything will still run the same, except that when
mail to you bounces it's me who'll remove you, instead of Doom. And, of
course, administrative messages will use shorter words. *grin*
I'll be updating the FAQ later this week.

So what should there now be at the top of the T-shirt? Still Doctor Doom's
name, or yours?

Doom should be on the top of this years' shirt. I'll can be there
next year.

Adam Jury <fro@***.ab.ca> has been chosen as my replacement.
Everybody who applied was considered quite carefully, and he ended up
having the combination of knowledge and net access which seemed best for
the next Assistant Fearless Leader of these lists.
We'll be easing him into the job over the next few weeks, so
please let him down easy. *grin*

Do I get to learn how to do that first? :)

I'm extremely honoured to be taking J.D's place, much as I am sad to
see him leave. I hope I can do as well as J.D did, and he did well, so I
have big shoes to fill. I guess you are probably wondering who the hell I
am, as I have been on the list a relatively short time, about 6 months.
Full name: Adam Jury
Age:16
Sex: Male (duh!)
Fun Informative paragraph: Well, I'm in grade 10 in high school.,
and live in Taber, Alberta, Canada. I've been playing Shadowrun for a
little over a year now, as gamemaster and a character in my own campaign, I
also run occasional IRC games and was thinking of starting a new campaign,
but, with my new duties, I may have to postpone that.
My web page should be up soon..I have several people (hint hint
certain unamed person who goes by the irc nick "Arti") who have told me i
could get some web space, as my new ISP charges for them, and I need money
for that zip drive :)
Also, I think if anyone has any questions for me, or about the list,
IRC is probably easier than email, but my email is fro@***.ab.ca, and it is
much easier to pop off a message than wait around for me, especially if you
are across the sea like many of the listmembers. Ok..i'm going on a bit now
I feel, so thank you and see you in the shadows!!

Okay, let's go for this: I watched Star Trek when it was first on. I
remember the Apollo 11 moon landing, and used to watch Space Kidettes on
Saturday morning.

Geez, this is turning into the Old Codgers list. :) I wonder if chrome will

Gotta admit, I don't remember half of those either (Star Wars was
released to U.S. theatres on my third birthday.)

I had no idea Adam was that young...which is probably a good
thing, because age has nothing to do with ability online.

Welll..I did use Mosaic for about 2 days, before downloading Netscape 1.2.
That was before I found the mailing list and IRC to spend my time on.

Uh, Mosaic was The Best Thing on the Net {TM} for about a year before
Netscape even thought about releasing something....

Hell, I can remember that, and I've been messing around with the internet

This needs some elaboration... do you mean "No flame wars until he's
learned how to kick people off", or "We can have flame wars _until_ he
learns how to kick people off"? :)

Well, I still know how to kick people off...but there'll be a day
or two (which we aren't planning to announce) when nobody will be able to
kick people off except Mark Imbriaco.
However, kicking people off is usually a last retort, so I don't
think there's any reason for concern.

Not quite, but.... well, 13 or 14 years older is depressing enough.

Hello all,

The Admin team for ShadowRN has been static for quite some time - since the
addition of GridSec I think we've done a very good job of keeping up with
issues on the list, and I'm very happy with the team that has been assembled.

It is therefore a great pleasure to announce that David Buehrer will be
joining me at the lists Assistant Fearless Leader position. He'll be
responsible for all the same things I am - GridSec duties, helping users,
removing bounced accounts, providing backup when I'm out of town, and all
that jazz. This will enable me to leave the list at some time in the future
without leaving Mark Imbriaco in a lurch :-)

David can be reached at graht@*********.com or david@*********.com, but
he's not quite up to speed yet, so any list-related correspondence should
be CC'ed to me at adamj@*********.com for now, please.

The obvious question this brings up is: "Will you be looking for any new
GridSec members?", and the answer to that is: Not for now. We haven't lost
anyone from the team (just promoted one), so we don't yet have a need for
more GridSec people. When we do, the list will be the first to know ;-)

And, just a reminder for those who are not up to date on the Admin
structure of the list:

Fearless Leader: Mark Imbriaco (mark.imbriaco@*****.com)
Assistant Fearless Leaders: Adam Jury (adamj@*********.com) and David
Buehrer (david@*********.com)
Frequently Asked Questions Maintainer: Dvixen (dvixen@*********.com)
GridSec: Gurth (gurth@******.nl) and Marc Renouf (renouf@********.com)

Best,
Adam Jury

Thanks Bull :)

I've been breeding woodchucks for over three years now ;), but GenCon isn't
going to happen this year :/ Just bought a new house and we have to spend
money on a few improvements, most notably the purchase and installation of
an evaporative cooler (swamp cooler). That pretty much wipes out the
GenCon fund :/

Next year :)
