A rather disjointed list...

But what has been said about these places in Shadowrun 'canon' material? Anything?

There's information about certain regions of Africa in Cyberpirates, and
think I've read something concerning the Middle Eastin another
sourcebook, but the other countries have not yet been covered AFAIK.

Afgan - nuttin
India - Very Little, cannot say off the top of my head
Middle East - See India
Africa - See Cyberpirates for info on Gold and Ivory coasts. Corp
exploitation to the max sums it up.
Brazil - Amazonia - Super tree huggers lead around by a feathered
serpent.
Mongolia - mentions it in Smuggler's Havens, but nothing detailed.

The Balkans is south-eastern Europe. Central Europe is the eastern portion
of Germany, Poland, Slovakia, and other countries in that neighborhood.

The Asian (= largest) part of Turkey, actually :)

Guess how I feel about what they did to the Netherlands... (Is Avenger
still on the list? :)

But actually, FASA books contradict themselves a bit over Belgium; PAoE
says the Range of that silly-named monster, the kludde, is Belgium,
whereas other books imply that Belgium doesn't exist anymore. My own view
is that it's likely Flanders is part of the Netherlands and Walloon
belongs to France; that leaves that little German-speaking part (back to
Germany?) and perhaps Brussels (independent city, or part of Flanders but
with lots of problems between Dutch and French speakers?). I have been
working on and off on a write-up of the Netherlands in SR, and that's
mostly the direction I've taken it in.

Parts of the Balkans certainly qualify as central Europe, as do
Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. Grab a map. Look at Europe. Pick the
middle.

Asia Minor is the old name given to the Turkish peninsula.
