I'm sure this is one heck of a dead horse, but I haven't seen anyone
flogging it, so I'm gonna pick up the whip. Has anyone converted the
Aliens, Predators, and Marines into SR stats? I just got through
playing a friend's brand spanking new copy of Aliens Vs. Predator
(bliss), and I've been tossing around the idea of making them up in SR
stats (maybe in the SR world, maybe just using SR rules). I'm sure
someone's done this before, so I'd appreciate an URL or two, or perhaps
a rundown of how it was done.

Thanks,

There are some conversions of the M41 Pulse Rifle in Paolos shadowrun
archive and stats for Alien worrior too, IIRC. Eric Johnson has converted
most of the other stuff from the book "Aliens: Colonial Marines Technical
Manual" but I don't renember the link now.

I made some thoughts about magic in space for a colonial marine scenario.
I keep magic complete intact and use the rule for the mojave desert for
other planets. I working on other alien races - like Genestealers from GW's
Space Hulk - at the moment.

I hope that will help

Greetings

Aliens vs. Predator? You mean the old comic books from Dark Horse?

I liked the comics when I read them (and there was an old Atari Jaguar game
based on the concept that was damn good and the CCG, of course) but are you
sure you want to introduce aliens to Shadowrun? (Not Aliens but aliens, as
in both of these two groups.) Having a single weird creature is okay, but
having a whole race descending is a scary idea. (Like the Night of the
Living Shadowrun ideas and the Horrors Crossing Over To Shadowrun plots, it
would dominate the game, I believe.)

Actually, I first thought of having the Aliens as a "solution to the
Chicago problem," mwaahahahaha! But no, I don't think they'd fit in
the SR world at all. I just want to make up SR rules for them, 'cause
they're such nifty beasts, and SR has such nifty rules.

And no, I don't mean the comics...I mean the wicked new PC game.

Very new, and surprinsingly cheap. And you can play the ALIEN! Very
cool...you scurry around on the ceiling and/or walls, and have only
your claws, tail, and jaws to attack with. Or be the Marine, with guns
galore, but no chance of survival:) Or the Predator, who can cloak,
and see in four different spectrums...all in all, a very sharp game
(though not even on the charts in terms of storyline).

I'd love it if you could find that...I checked out the page in the
Archive, and found it interesting, but a little incomplete.

Actually, I don't want to put the Aliens into the SR world, I just
like using the SR rules. It might make for a fun change someday.

Who makes this game? Where is it available?

I'm thinking of buying a 3D Accelerator just so I can play this
freakin' thing. Or I could spend the same amount on Lone Star :)

I think you have found the link "aliens in shadowrun". The site is nice, but
I don't like it much. There are not much infomations on it. My browser is
working again and so i have the link for Eric J.'s page. The URL is:

http://shadowrun.html.com/archive/ArchiveShowExternalArtclle.php3?title=Eric
+Johnson%27s+limited+SR+page=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.geocities.com%FCapeCanaveral%2
F6958%Findex.htm

But I think it is much easier when you use a link from Paolos Sadowrun
Archive. Eric has made alot of weapons like the "Heckler & Koch PSG-54
Sniper Rifle. That link will lead you directly to Eric's page.

You will find there IIRC the different granades used by the USCMC, the M65
Smart Gun, the M42A Scope Rifle (not featured in the Movie), the drop ship,
the APC and some other equipment from the Technical Manual. You have to dig
around on his site to find it. Sometimes there are links in the description
of the equipment to other equipment not listet on the starting page.

If you know CP2020 well you can use a other site too. There is much more
about that topic. The URL is: www.geocities.com/Area51/7038/

I don't do tha too. My party is good but not sooo good ;-) No that will be a
complete other world with the rules of SR. Well, not so different from FASA
cannon because in that world the Corp's a the most powerfull player.

I hope that will help.

Yeah and it SUCKS!!! Because I can't do it,...that's why I think it sucks.
:) Anyways, it's a 3d shoot'em up and I think it's hard as hell but it looks
great.

Why can't you do it? The difficulty of the game or some radical system
requirements?

Erm... Maybe you should play more FPS' -- it's relatively easy if you can
see the mindset that they want you to play it with...

The Predator works like an assassin -- you have to have to hit fast and
accurate and then retreat to recuperate... Use your cloaking abilities to
confuse and take out humans, and use the Pistol or the Disc to take out the
Aliens...

The Aliens require you to keep moving... Don't stop and use your climbing
and extra sensory abilities to literally tear marines to pieces
(remembering to rip off their heads and rend their bodies to pieces to
regain lost health)... Against Predators or tracking weapons always strafe
and use your jumping/clawing attacks to blindside them... Always remember
that you do nearly three times as much damage if you hit from behind...

The Marine is probably the easiest to play (at least until you reach the
Bonus Missions and have to use the JetPack which kind of flares your
low-light). Use your superior firepower and keep moving... Pulse Rifle is
probably the best all-around weapon (though the Smartgun gets close).
Remember to use the flamer against Face Huggers or against large groups of
Aliens to light up the room (hehehe...).

All in all, it suffers from the same flaws as all other First Person
Shooters -- it gets repetitive quickly. There's only so much shooting,
running, jumping, and ducking you can do before it all becomes a slow and
boring grind... That being said it has some great atmosphere... I can't
tell you the number of times I've almost fallen out of my chair when a face
hugger gets me...

Difficulty of the game, and my own inborn inability to cope with 3d shoot'em
ups. It's hard as hell to survive with the marine and it's even tougher to
play with an alien because you can walk up walks and that can become very
disorientating. I think it also has something to do with the atmosphere
(that word again!) of the game that does grasp me. I completely rocked with
Kingpin - Life of Crime because I liked it so much.
