page 148 black book an astrally precieving character cannot move his
physical form fast enough to intercept the spell. In order to intercept a
spell an astrally projecting character must be aware of the spell casting and
have delayed action. Therefore an inhabiting ally can nevefight spellsls
in astral space because they are in essence always precieving.

To this I would add the exception that a character who is astrally perceiving
and has a delayed action can counterattack a spell targeted directly at him.
For instance, a spell cast on 12 at a physad who was perceiving and had a
delayed action from 14 could intercept the spell, attacking it with a magical
weapon.

Ahh.. Once again my age shows! I am not involved in a
2nd Ed system! Thank you for the citation. How about
the notion that the spell is coming at the Ally in the
first place? It is not as if the ally has to move to
intercept- the spell is heading directly for him/her/it.
That, IMHO, would be like normal combat and the concept
of Parry/Counterattack, or whatever it is called in
SR II. Does this same section deal with this instance?
