I agree with Andrew Danforth that an ally conjured by a mage whose
'natural' intelligence was a six, but then had a cerebral boost Lvl 2
implanted to raise it to an eight, the ally would have an eight intelligence.
But I'm very interested to hear (read?) anyone else's opinions on this.

Also: what sort of damage code would a manifested ally have for attacking
physical targets? (BTW: I'm using SR1 but any SR2 answers can be modifed over)
I would think that the ally could easily do StrM1 stun (or whatever the
standard hand to hand damage is in SR2) and could use weapons if the form was
humanoid etc. But what if the ally had a form, such as a snake, which would
normally be able to inflict physical damage (the bite or constriction attacks)
then what damage would the ally do? if it had the form of a Shadowhound (from
paranormal animals of N. America, p144) would it be able to do strM2 physical
damage, like the shadowhound can do? it would obviously not have any of the
critter's other powers or weaknesses. Any opinions on this?

Yet another question: this one is simple. What are people's opinions
on a reflex recorder for the computer skill? It's obvious that it is possible,
as far as i can tell, but do you folks out there agree with the idea? do any
of your deckers (or whoever) have one? Any other opinions on this idea?

Thanx in advance for any responses to the above!!!
Have a Nice Day!!! ->Kurt Rauscher<-

BZZZZT! Wrong-o, moose breath. Sorry, but I disagree entirely, if you
are saying (typing?) what I think you are. If you summon the ally, then
you have created him with certain characteristics, based upon a link of
sorts that exists b/n you two. When you raise your intelligence, it
shouldn't raise his. Why? Well, 2 reasons
1) Game balance. If I remember right, it's MUCH cheaper to buy the ally
with lower stats. If you toss in a cerebral boost, then it's basically
a free upgrade for him
2) Game Reason: you created him when YOU were at such-&-such an
intelligence. Yes, there is a link, but would that allow him to
instantly raise his as well? He doesn't have the cyberware, it's not a
natural increase, and it also brings up the "seeing after being blind"
thing. If he is used to having a certain intelligence, would he be able
to cope with a higher intelligence? Would the link reflect this? NO.
Granted, this may not make sense, but try to think it through. Why
should the magical link (is there one?) upgrade his intelligence? You
have to buy the ally his own skills (no offense to any female allies out
there), raise his skills separately. Why should getting a piece of
metal in your head change the rules? Hope this helps

ACTIVE skills is the keyword. I don't think computer counts as active.
Knowledge maybe, but not ACTIVE. How would knowing which keys to hit on
the deck make you a more improved decker? Most of it is based on mind
stuff, NOT typing keys quickly.
