Bioware isn't in an article, it's in the sourcebook Shadowtech. Alpha and
Beta grade cyberware is in the Street Samurai Catalog. Delta grade
cyberware is in Cybertechnology. I'd like to send all the on these things
out, but it would get me sued by FASA for copyright violations. So I can't.
Best bet is to try ordering the books from FASA (they have a web page at
http://www.fasa.com/)

Lower essence cost, high price... Going from memory, I think alpha is 80%
essence cost, but 4-5 times as much, beta is 60 or 70%, and 7 times as
much, and delta (they skipped gamma) is 50% and 10 times normal cost...
Delta is also very very very hard to get ahold of.

Rules for alpha and beta appear in the Street Samurai Catalog, delta
shows up in Cybertechnology... I think there are maybe six or seven known
delta clinics, all of them in the control of some powerful
government/corp. *Shrug* And they don't tell you which ones... Though I
think I could make some safe guesses... =)

It appeared originally in Shadowtech... I can email you in private if you
really want me to dig it up.

Alphaware reduces the essence cost of cyberware by .2 to 0.8 normal
cost and cost 3 times the usual cost. It also costs 50 times the
usual doctor fees etc.

betaware Reduces the essence cost by .4 to 0.6 of the normal cost in
essence and cost 7 times the usual costs. The doctors fees are 50
times higher.

Deltaware reduces the essence cost to one half normal and cost 10
times the usual cost of cyberware. It is only available to the Triple
A corparations and cost 200 times the normal installation fees.

I hope this helps :'}

Type Essence Cost

Standard * 1.0 Standard * Street Index
Alpha * 0.8 Stand. * SI * 3
Beta * 0.6 Stand. * SI * 7
Delta * 0.5 Stand. * SI * 10

Hope this helps. BTW, anyone notice this. Delta is the FOURTH letter in
the Greek alphabet. Gamma is the third. I think Gammaware was a failure,
eeewwwhhh imagine what happened to the subjects.

It can handle damage better, but it doesn't get any extra bonuses other than
costing less essence.

Thats what Tom Dowd said after it was pointed out to him that he had
forgotten a letter. Well, actually what he said was "Marketing didn't like
it." :)

Work better? No... but think... Knocking off a point or two of essence
with tose Level 3 Wired Reflexes... _that's_ useful.. =)

WHAT?
You want not only lower Essence cost but more functionality,
too? *cough*
No, the only reason to use {alpha|beta|delta}ware is to keep
the essence cost low. Either to put more cyper in the punk
(Errrmmm :-) oder to keep magic loss low or whatever reason
comes to (the sick) mind :-)

Actually, you _do_ get improved functionality... The various grades are
increasingly hard to damage. After a serious wound had knocked out a
former player's smartgun link for the 5th time, he went and got a beta
one just so it'd last... :)

What damadge system do you use? I've checked abot 10 times, and took light
damadge to a minor ware once. Having only a very few systems to damadge helps
greatly (this is with the SSC system, expanded in shadowtech).
