Subject: Alterenate Character Generation

Okay, I've had this sitting in my notebook for too long, so here it is, my
POINT BASED CHARACTER CREATION SYSTEM (tm). This was designed primarily to
allow people to tweak their characters a little bit. The priority system
in the book has always annoyed me, so here is my alternative. As far as I can
tell there are no gaping loopholes that would allow munchkins to go nuts,
but I want all your opinions. What do you think? Are there any truck sized
holes in my logic here? All comments are appreciated.


Base => 100 creation points

*ATTRIBUTES*
-all attributes start at a base level of 3
-bought up at a rate of 1/2 current level + desired level, round down.
*Example* Quickness to 5 => (1/2 3) + 4 + (1/2 4) + 5 = 12 points
-can be bought down at the same rate
*Example* Quickness to 2 => (1/2 2) + 3 = +4 points
-racial package deals (modifiers are applied after buying attributes)
*Dwarf*: +1 Body (additional +1 vs. disease/toxins), +1 Strength,
+1 Willpower, thermographic vision.
*Elf*: +1 Quickness, +2 Charisma, low light vision.
*Ork*: +2 Body, +1 Strength, -1 Charisma, low light vision.
*Troll* +2 Body (additional +1 Body for dermal plating), +2
Strength, -1 Intelligence and Charisma, thermographic vision,
+1 reach.
All packages are 10 points. The PC *MUST* take an allergy from the table
below, but as in SRII, they get additional points for more severe allergies.
(I am of the firm belief that metahumans should have to take allergies)

Iron, Silver +5
Common:
Plastic, Pollutants, Sunlight +10


*Severity* *Points*
Nuisance -
Mild +5
Moderate +10
Severe +15

*MAGIC*
-Adept status is 30 points
-Full mage status is 40 points
-Spells cost 1 point per force point of the spell. Spells may be bought
with force modifiers.

*SKILLS*
-Intelligence x 2 in skill points for free, but they may not be used on
active skills.
-Skills are bought as general skills at a cost of 1.5 points per skill
point, except languages and ettiquette skills, which are bought at a rate
of 1:1. Concentrations and specializations may be added. 6 is still the
maximum starting skill level.

*MONEY*
-20,000 nuyen is gained per point spent on money. It may be spent as normal.
