Hi,
One of my players approached me tonight with an idea that felt munchkin
like, but after some thought began to appeal to me. We have just started
making new characters after a six month story arc. He wants to make a
Techno Shaman via the phys adept rules and a Decker or Rigger. He wants
to uses the enhanced centreing powers on technical and B/R skills.

At first i thought, no way. But then he pointed a few things out. First,
Enhanced centreing works against penalties, not target numbers. Most
decking tasks have high enough T# before any penalties come into play
anyways.
Second, His Character would need quite a bit of Karma to even get access
to these powers. Initiate status and self initiation (not many Techno
Shamans around).
Third, His character would have something else to develop other than
toys that cost millions of Nuyen and months of game time.

I'm still sitting on the fence, but it doesn't feel as munchkiny.

A little help?

Hmmm... Sounds like a Physical Adept: Way of Technology. Using basic
powers such as Imp. Senses (microvision), Imp. Ability (any techno
skill), Imp. Atts, and in the future Enh. Centering. The only thing I
would say though, is that cybernetics should still remove magic points,
thus limiting both the amount of cyber and/or the number of PA powers.

This brings up a wierd otaku rules q... in Technobabel, Babel
commands his sprites when he isn't jacked in (to spoof some slave
module and open a door) ... Is this actually possible in the Otaku
rules?

As the rules are stated, no, it isn't. With some extrapolation of a very
special concept, oh yeah, easily.

It was my impression that his sprites were "watching" him through the
system (security cameras and mics). So that when he gave a command they
were able to follow through

Ah, but that is a different situation (I haven't read the book, that's
tomorrow while the car is getting worked on). IF they recognized his
meatbody, or had some form of communication (such as verbal), that would be
fine by me.
