I have to agree wit Woodsy... I haven't even /fantacized/ about hving that
much Karma to play with. If you can only start with skill ratings of 6
(or maybe it was just my GM, but if it was, more power to him!) it takes
a LOT of Karma to get a skill of 13!

12 points to raise to a 7
14 pts for an 8
16 pts for a 9
18 pts for a 10
20 pts for an 11
22 pts for a 12
and 24 pts for a 13!!!
=========================================================6 KARMA POINTS!!!!

Sorry chummers, but when you talk about runners with Computer skill 13
and Vehicle B/R 9 and Pig Latin 10 and Tricycle Piloting 8 ... I have
GOT to wonder what kind of Karma Kandystore you've been running in. Cuz I'd
/sure/ like to visit it someday!

Now I'm sorry if yawl consdier this flamin', and I don't wanna offend
noone personal-like. But I'm startin to think I've got the wrong idea of the gam
e here...

Hate to break this to you. It gets even worse under SR2... it takes 2
times what the skill is GOING to be in karma. Ouch.

Tell me about it. The only way I can get them that high is through
specializations and such. After I get a 7 or so in a skill, I work on
boosting my other skills, or getting new ones. One of my original
Riggers, who ran all the modules released in the first and a half. It
was a high karma/HIGH RISK! campaign. We went up against queens, toxics
and dragons (oh my!). He had a high score of an 8. Granted, he burned
a LOT of karma, but he also had several 6's or so (not bad for a guy
who started with priority 3 skills and never specialized or concentrate)
and his skill list ran off the room provided on the character sheet.
He was never played as a screw (well, depending on who you ask :), just
played effectively. It's all a matter of attitude.
