OK, provided the mail got through, you've all had a chance to gander at
the sandpaper draft of my Consolidated Ammo post. Here are some notes on
what bugged me about previous attempts, in an effort to let you see the
guiding forces behind the stats (which are cleverly etched in Low Tide
brade elcetronic records).

Someone once posted that their assumption was that Hollow Point was the
standard round carried by guns i the game. This makes no since. Granted,
many of the "self-defence" gun-owners I know carry expanding bullets (
another name for them). But, they are less effective against armor, and
given how often 'runners encounter armored opponents, I don't see why
they would use it that much.

Assumptions are made regarding cased and caseless ammo, as well. The
weapons are defined that way; I think ther is maybe one illustration of
an MG labeled "Brand Name X caseless MG". Caseless is hot now because it's
new; there are many reasons that cased ammo will be around for at least a
little while (I think Nightstalker can dig up a paragraph in the Cyberpunk
'Solo of Fortune' book that covers the reasons adequately.

Rule #1: Don't assume anything in Shadorun.

Chris Yang's post being the most recent, I drew on it for ideas and
looked at what I liked and didn't like. The only complaint I have there
is the "calibre" section. Certainly, guns can be made in different calibres,
but since that controls damage levels. . .if someone wants to make a 6L
attack, then they'll buy a Light Pistol, rather than recalibrate a Predator
(which is harder to conceal). So I've left calibre out.

Also left out were variant loads and rules for wear & tear (thich would be
neccesitated by the former).

There's a problem in reflecting the benefits of some round types, since
the attack is resolved in one roll. Logically, a round affected by armor
should only have a lower power when penetrating the armor, and have no
such penalties once it gets through.

My biggest problem so far is the second set of exploding bullets. These
are supposed to be optional, so you can use either standard exploding
bullet rules or my (highly variant) rules for them. The biggest complaint
I have about any post is that it is too convoluted to use practically. . .
and I fear that's what's happening to my ammo post.

It is still in the rough draft stage--I just wanted to kick it out and get
some feedback before I finalize it and print it out. If you don't think
it's neccesary, fine, kill all related messages and keep quiet. If you see
a way to improve the definition or implementation, please let me know.
