I have an Idea for a run that can hit home. I just got finished reading the
Shadowrun Novel "Forever Drug".
Can, in the Shadowrun Universe, people have test tube babies?
The problem that I have is Can a woman "Fran, normal Human" have Bob "The
Elf" & Jane "The Female Elf's" Baby?
Can said baby be Elf or would it have to be random?
Is it Socially acceptiable? Would other Elvies frown on it?
Any input on this is wanted and medical input also.
No, I am not trying to do the clone thing.

Since humans and metahumans can mate and produce offspring, I would say yes.

If mom and dad are elves, it's probably going to be an elf.

Depends on the other elves. Just like with humans, close minded will
frown while open minded ones won't.

Probably the same medical technology required today.

Heh.

According to the novel Steel Rain it's possible.

I would like to know as the tech or what would be used in this case?

Is it possible to use an old fashion type trank gun to do the job?

Or make a person example "Fran the Human" not know she is carring
"Bob the Elf & Jane the Elf's Baby".

What are the legal grounds for fran to keep the said baby?
Or is she out of legal luck?

Like Graht said. Current medical technology is capable of in-vitro
fertilization.

> Is it possible to use an old fashion type trank gun to do the job?

I don't follow. If you're talking about impregnating someone with an
egg cell delivered by a Narcoject or something similar, I don't really
see how that would work.

I suppose if Fran were not conscious at first, but eventually "Fran"
is going to be aware she's carrying a baby.

Not necessarily so. There have been cases where women have carried a baby
full term and not been aware until they delivered. Usually happens by way of
self-delusion - "I can't be pregnant, therefore I'm not.", but it does happen. I

actually know of this first-hand. I knew somebody who went into the hospital
thinking they had a really bad stomach flu and came out with a baby. Some
women don't even show, oddly enough.
