Reason #1
And God said...there is magic. Well only for about 5000 years at a time.

Reason #2
In the Great Intergalletic Engine at the Center of All There Is a maintence
guy named Ernie pulled a Do Not Touch Switch...Ta Da! Magic!

Reason #3
Maybe Magic was first and is the normal way. We live in the wierd non-magic
time and are stuck watching reruns of Three's Company and reading Romances,
"Harlequin" Romanances...see how far the mighty have fallen.

Reason #4
Without a magic cycle we would have to explain why Reason #3 is the way it
is.

Reason #5
Maybe the Mayans are right.

Reason #6
Jordan Weisman and Ross Babcock said "Magic Cycles" and I said "Yes Sirs,
How
High Sirs"

Have Fun!
Play Games!
Where's My Medication!

Bit of a pretentious subject line, don't you think? :)

Suggested Reason #2a
Deep Thought found it necessary to incorporate a magic field to sustain
evolution, but the hairdressers arrived and messed everything up...

That could get circular really fast...
