that I would tell you a little tale about a rather more advanced
one. A point that you have to understand first is that my
campaign tends more towards a manga style of play, my
inspiration being taken from such clasics as Appleseed, Black
Magic, Tank police all by Masamune Shiro (sp? ) and
Super-dimensional fortress Macross, as well as other that i have
read including Dirty Pair.
It was the middle of a simple run, well as simple as they get
when you are being hunted by the law, chased by an assasin, a
corperation, and still have a two day deadline. The charachters
are holed up for a while after a fire fight in a house, this is
in a moderatly seedy area of Redmond. When there is a knock on
the door, standing there in torn jeans and tee-shirt is an
attractive oriental woman, about 20-21. She says that she was
accousted by the Rusty Stiletoes, and 'attacked/assulted', She
didn't mention that she left five of them dead. The players ,
after searching her for bugs and other things, let her in. Then
they notice the large ammount of cyberware she has, or the mage
does, the only strange thing being the two SG-links, one on each
palm. She introduces herself as Kashana and tells them that she
is on the run from Renraku after they caused her parents to
disapear, apparently her job was as a high level security
escort, or was going to be.
As the players have been useing a lot of contacts, especialy
Mafia, Yakuzza, and Lone Star as well as a few corperate people,
They have been asked to look out for a stollen R&D device known
only as the "Rouge-War Project". The only thing they do know
about about it is that it is a small black Poly-carbonate box
about the size of a large novel with a few wires comeing out of
it. This device is infact a prototype C^3 deck, shadowteck only
just having come out at the time. The item they are looking for
is sat in the room talking with them. Kashana-297 is one of a
kind, she integrates a full expert system with a bio-neural
center, that could pass for a brain, and as such has a sort of
Aura. I forget what happened to her, as I had to finish that
campaign, I think she was keeping low and working the shadows
through a fornt team.
The Theory: The basis behind this android, was a picture I had
seen for "Ghost in the Machine". I figured that if arms, legs
and other things could be made, so could an entire body. This
was the hard bit, so I gave up on modern science and said that
it could be done because I wanted it to. Kashana had great
stength, and dexterity, but could be a little niave. She was
great fun to play, and I may just bring her back one day, I
still have the sheet <somewhere>.
