One of the central propositions of the SR system is that tech and magic
are opposite "poles", for an analogy. It's inherent in the game, become
tech, lose Essence. Thru houserules, NAGA, whatever, you can
change the direction, by reducing the penalties, to suit your taste, or
what you conceptualize the World as being like. But they don't go
together in THE RULES.

>2. Is it common place for this comparison between archetypes [snip]

From my (limited) experience with this LIST, it appears to happen about
once a month. The subject comes up during playing sessions
occasionally. As far as posturing goes, drek chummer, it's style over
substance anyday. That's part of the game. Ever heard of posers?

>3. From those who know CP2020:[snip]

Answered elsewhere efficiently, not family cars, military.

>4. Why do most weapons in Shadowrun only have a nominal [snip]

Avoiding the question (yet answering it), the system is lethal enough,
with more than enough rules to keep number crunchers enthralled. Why
do you need more lethality. You've been playing CP too long.

5. After reading the 1st edition Shadrun book [snip]

As mentioned elsewhere (although I found the Contacts book interesting
and useful), look in the Contacts book that comes with the GM Screen.

6. Finally, I have some older books that have damage codes [snip]

I believe in SRII in the Critter section, or in the Sourcebook Update
section, Critter area, the rules (such as they exist) for transferring from
SRI to SRII are given. I believe that you add 2 to the power of the
damage code for every staging level above 2, as that is now the only
staging code, e.g., 4D3 becomes 6D.

The Contacts book is interesting, if you don't own Sprawl Sites.
Everything in the Contacts book is in Sprawl Sites, so for those of us,
who've been with SR since Blue book, I don't need the contacts book.
Other of you without Sprawl IStes, get it .
