Hmmmm... The idea of animal augmentation raises a question in my mind
at least--how many points of essence do non-humans have...err, make that
non-sentients... e.g. Do dogs/cats/goldfish all have 6 points of essence? OR
do some creatures have more/less? Obviously essence can't be a direct function
of body, cuz then trolls with 11 bods would hafta have higher essences... Then
again it can't be a function of mind or willpower either... so what is it a
function of?! Is essence the universal constant? I'd instinctively say no...
Then again, might only sentients have the same amount of essence? e.g: Only
humans and metas have 6 points of essence. But then, that'd imply that people
who are 'more sentient' should have more essence--e.g. magic types, dragons,
mages, spirits... admittedly I THINK initiates get more essence, but is that
consistent throughout the system? (Can ya tell I don't play mages?) Following
that line of thought, logically, dragons, and paranormal creatures should
probably start out with more initial essence, and non sentients,
e.g:non-paranormal animals, should have less, but what factor is used to
determine how much? Is Willpower a determining factor in how much willpower an
animal has? After all, they don't have magic ratings... definitely a VERY
confusing issue in my mind...
