Hmmm. Does anyone have any nice, theoretical idea as to why cyber drives
animals bonkers?

Well, cybernetics doesn't do fun things to the human psyche. It's one
thing to lose a part of yourself. It ain't fun, but you can get over it.
It's something else again to have parts of you replaced with something
hard, metal and a whole lot stronger that you used to be. For social
animals especially (canines, for instance), this is going to muck up the
hierarchy which shapes a lot of behaviour. I mean, one moment, your
trainer's the alpha because he's got the combination of strength and
smarts the beats you cold everytime. What happens when you suddenly
become stronger? And faster? And bigger? And tougher? Furthermore, 'you'
isn't *you*! Everything about what you used to define your identity is
different -- different appearance, different smell, different senses.
It'd be pretty dang confusing.

And remember, this whole "bonkers" thing is just a very strong
tendancy. There are documented cases of cybered animals remaining
docile, one example being the CyberCow mentioned in the London
Sourcebook.
