I don't know what you're complaining about, you got closer than a lot of
other people :) You still get something :)

Good story by the way Doc. I liked it a lot. You should keep writing.

cheers

Heh heh heh. You wonder why I'm complaining when there was a BABY on
offer? :)

Ah well, not bad for my first semi-professional foray since year 9.
Thanks for the encouragement.

Btw, everyone. I've read the first and second place stories (and I'm
getting onto the others) and I've been a fan of Rat's own stories for a
while now. Although I do think mine were the best (can you detect a note
of bias here?), you really should check them out - all of them - and let
your friends and acquaintances know about them. Remember, BattleTech is
taking off in the outside world (at least, to an extent). Why don't we
see if we can boost Shadowrun awareness too?

I can't say I'm too disappointed with an honorable mention. Believe it
or not, I didn't enter the contest for the BABY. I just did it on the
waaaay outside hope that someone would actually find my stuff good. I
think I could have come up with something better, but dammit, two months
just wasn't enough! Anyway, congrats to everyone. Rat, the new site
looks awesome!
Oh, yeah, are us mention-ees gonna get a nifty little web graphic or
something for our web pages?

I really do wish I'd have more than one to give away. You
don't *know* how hard it was to pick a winner. There were so
many good stories submitted--I had a blast reading them all.
(I think I will post all (or many) of them a few at a time
over the next few weeks.)

And thank *you* for writing two such cool stories! :)

Thanks for the plug of the site. That was one of the reasons for the
contest--to bring people to the Magespace--but my main reason for
running it is to encourage folks to write Shadowrun fiction.
I think my nefarious plan has succeeded. :)

(Hmm...I wonder if I can come up with a good enough prize to get
folks to enter *next* year's contest...)

Cool, more good stuff to read. :)

It was good to get an honourable mention as well.

Perhaps this sort of thing should be run more often to encourage
people even more...

Well, you could always contact FASA and see if they are willing
to sponsor a semi official comp
