Subject: Another (probably stupid) aura related question...
Date: Sat, 15 Mar 1997 12:24:41 -0600
I'm sure this has been asked before, but having been on the list for
only a couple of months, I probably missed it the first time
around.

Anyway, last night while gaming a situation came up where a shaman
wanted to see his own aura. My question is, can he see his own aura in
the same way you can examine your meat body, or this an impossibility?

Thanks for your patience,

Jim

(If there is any description of examining one's own aura in the books, I
missed it, so if anyone else finds anything, please let me know
where...I'm not the most perceptive guy in the world.)

It's not covered in the books, but I really don't see why he couldn't

I don't think there's any official ruling. Here is how I would rule in my game:

It is your aura that perceives other auras, so it isn't easy to look at yourself in
astral space. Astral perception will never do it. Astral projection will only show
you the aura residue that remains in your material body, which IMHO can give
you almost no information. Mundane mirrors do not reflect auras at all.

If you need to examine your own aura, it is possible however. An astral quest to
the place of reflection will do it, and give you many good role-playing hooks as
well.

In one of the books it states that images in mirrors does count for
line of sight and you can cast through them. except for manipulation
spells.

Mirrors work because the casters can see the auras and get and lock
with most spells.
