How many runners you know pack air rifles, hmm?

Then use tungsten carbide, or some other metal, or plastic, or whatever
as long as it isn't lead, in the ammunition for your SMG, pistol, assault
cannon, whatever. Detecting brass (the cartridge cases) also wouldn't
work, because SR2 states that most weapons use caseless rounds, i.e.
without a cartridge case.
I think the best solution would either be to ban guns at all from the bar
(which is what this whole thing started about), or make it a GM's
decision that the Bullet Barrier blocks all bullets, fired or unfired,
ballistic or non-ballistic, lead or tungsten carbide, etc. etc. etc., and
let the players deal with that.
