It's a good point...If I'm not planning on making any money off the
project, do I have to get premission to use any of the material?

I think so if you publish it, (for money or not) you need the permission of
the Trademark owner. And that means for everything you publish. Even
this kind of email............

I guess the owner of this mailing list can tell you more about this topic
