Wait a minute--
Didn't I read somewhere that you can't cast spells at a Power level
greater than your Magic Rating, lest you take Physical damage??

Why do people insist on mixing cyber and magic...Yeah it's way cool and
nothing short of a Panzer cannon will hurt such a character (or a
LS HRT squad) but how does one justify that kind of character in a game
setting? IMHO this kind of idea is a little munchkinous...
Comments anyone?

What? It's not like there aren't good reasons to do it. I
play a Rastafarian Wolf Shaman with a cyberarm, optics, and
a smartgun link right now. He spent his youth as a ganger,
and the cyber was part rite-of-passage, part cool, and part
necessity- you can't always wait, or might not want to wait,
for a good vat-grown arm. And the mods certainly do turn you
into a grade-A nasty, which is always good for those with
combat-intensive lifestyles.

Sure, it cuts his magic to 4, but he wasn't a practicing
mage when that happened. He was a Wolf at heart, true, but
the totem didn't exaclty speak clearly to him in his
speed-taking, gun-totin' youth.

So you can work it into a character concept. And yes, you do
get a very dangerous character that way. But there are many
good reasons for people to go out and make themselves
dangerous. In real life, people *do* optimize themselves for
their chosen profession.

Yes, but the power focus (rating 6) allows him to cast spells up
to a force level of 7 (and use as many pool dice) without a problem.

Well I agree, but I believe that the background story deals with this, as
this characters goal in life is to remove his cyberware and re-clone the
organic mass to allow him to regenerate his essence, I dont think that
would be a problem.

Almost. It's still a realy nice astral beacon screaming ``hit me!'' And if
you take it away, he's hosed in the magic department.

Thats why its got the 2 locks stacked together with it, all three of them
have a power level of 8 (6+1+1). This means that any attacker has a target
number of 8 to hit it (and as many dice as the force of his spell) and
the sorcerer has 8 dice (the power) to resist the TN of the spell. Now
I dont think that this can be a problem ......
Anyway no one said that this is the do all and be all mage, the man
is burned out and he knows it - hell he regrets it.
