Well, being as I run a By-The-Book game I can say that the BTB starting
characters are just right in their power levels. They are tough enough,
mostly, to handle the adventures in a heroic manner and they can be
played for years without ever getting out of hand or hard to design for.

I'm really glad that I don't have to put up with the kind of GM(?) that
jacks around with the rules or makes starting characters weaker than they
should be. Those GM(?)s are cheating their players, and the game
itself. It does take more work to GM SRII BTB but it is definitely worth
the effort.
