It always strikes me as a bit strange that anyone would make
body armor in the form of (semi?-)traditional Scottish highland
dress... I mean, why not also make a 19th-century dress (to
revisit that one) with 3/2 armor, or a kevlar bearskin for that
caveman look? :)

There _is_ some use in reading articles about scratchbuilding 54
mm figures of Scottish soldiers! You learn the names of all kinds
of unnecessary pieces of clothing :)

The difference is that kilts are still fairly common in certain parts of the
world, whereas the 19th century dress and the bearskin robes aren't exactly
standard issue anymore.

Another point is that the King's Guard in England still wears kilt (or does in
the 1990's... don't remember the 2050's)... while its a ceremonial position,
I'd bet they still want them to be able to take a bullet for King and Country

What do you mean, unncessary? They don't make pockets on those things...
where would Angus the Scottish Samurai keep his extra clips, otherwise?
