I have scanned the SRII rulesbook but, although it gives the cost
for ARMOR utility it does not describe what it does.
Could someone tell me how it is used?

It's got more utilities in the price list than in the rules, indeed. They're
in Virtual Realities (7107), and Armor is on page 37 of that book. Now if
you'll wait for a second I'll go pick up the page that just fell out and
then tell you what it does *sigh*

ARMOR
This degrading utility [ :)] adds to the bod of the deck. It
degerenates, losing 1 rating point every time the deck's bod is used as a
Target Number attacked. This program must be in active memory to have any
effect.
When placed in a frame, its rating becomes the effective Bod
Attribute Rating of the entire frame.
The rating of this program cannot be restored except by shutting
down and restarting the deck.

Simple. it acts as an armor to reduce the power of an attack. Just
like real armor!

Not so. It adds to a deck's effective Bod rating. So in effect,
it adds to the targert number certain kind of IC need to affect your
deck. But keep in mind that it degrades every time the deck's Bod is
*targetted*. Not hit, *targetted*, a very important difference.
