Heh, maybe the next step in armor development is what they did with tanks
when they couldn't armor the things well enough...reactive armor :-)

Reactive armor is a specfic development to combat shaped charge explosives.
So now we're working on HVKKWs (Hyper-Velocity Kinetic Kill Weapons).

That is kind of the way I look at the Gel Pack armor from FoF - except of
course it doesn't explode...
