Apologies about not responding, I've been unavailable this weekend and only
now finished going through the email I found waiting for me this morning.
To respond to the question regarding physical/technological interactions with
astrally perceiving characters, I present the following OPINIONS, which are
my own and not reflective of official FASA policy:
* I prefer the interaction of technology and magic to be as little as
possible. While I think a system such as Bull describes could track the gross
physical movements of an assenser, I don't think it could indicate the
location of an astral target with any great accuracy.
* In my games, a perceiving character moves in synch with his astral form, so
he has to turn his head to look behind him, for example. The character also
perceives out of the location of his eyes, because they are symbolically the
source of "sight." This is the case whether the character's original eyes are
present and functional or not. The character can even assense with his eyes
closed (which actually makes it easier to ignore physical distractions and
concentrate solely on the astral).
* This is not to say that I think the ideas of being able to assense from any
point of one's aura or from a "third eye" located on the forehead (or
wherever) are invalid. I think they're perfecting usable house rules that
conform to the ideas of astral space. I simply stick to the version about
because I find it the simplest to use and to explain.
