Ok, updated news blurb for SR Assassin.

SR Assassin is a Computer Game coming out for the PC, done by FASA
Interactive. Mike talked about this a bit in the SR Q&A and the What's Up
With FASA Seminars. here's what we know:

It is being donw in that 1st/3rd person style like Tomb Raider, with the
camera above and slightly behind the character.

The character is a Elven Female Ex-Corp Operative.

FASA Interactive has been stressing that this is an Action Game, not a RPG.
Keep in mind that the computer industry has a different definition of RPG
than we do.

Mike has been working with FIT to make sure it's accurate and that it has a
good storyline.

No word on Multiplayer net options yet.

Mike Stackpole got to see a sneak preview of some of the screen shot stuff,
and he said he was absolutely blown away by it.

Release is sometime next year, possibly a christmas release.

This is the current, official line from FASA. Hope this answers the recent
thread. Enjoy :]

Nooooooooo....

Lemme guess. Tara Loft? Huh... Kara Froft? Come on. When I first heard
about something called "Shadowrun:Assasion" a while back, I wa pumped. Yes!
Something to redeem that Genesis/SNES bullshit they tried to pass on us. A
computer RPG, party systems, gear lists, skill advancements out the wazoo, a
cross between Syndicate and classic RPGs. Yes!

But... Tomb Raider? Oh no. Ex-Elven operative? Can't wait to see those
tight hot pants, kevlar bra. Yep yep.

Bah, come to think of it, it'll get more people into the game.
Unfortunatly, these will mostly be horny adolescents.

You had to know *that* wasn't in the wings. Would be extremely cool to us,
but would it sell millions of copies to the core video game audience?
Possibly, but not as likely.

Yeah, but I bet she'll be a hottie, just like all the other "action babes"
that are seemingly in every damn video game these days, wearing less and
less each friggin' time. On one side of the coin, I enjoy eye candy of all
flavors. On the other side, it's rather ridiculous and unrealistic. I
mean, on one of those fighting games (Tekken or something) there's a female
character with anit-gravity breast; absolutely massive and they bounce like
Jello. There's even an option to turn off the bounce. And the noises she
made were silly. At first glance it was like "WOW!" but after a moment or
two, it became rather stupid and silly. It's beginning to go past fun eye
candy and into the realm of the painfully ridiculous.

I seem to recall that some video game character was a centerfold for some
"adult males" magazine, called something like Rage or Rave or something
like that a few months back. It was only a matter of time after Lara Croft
and her ilk first appeared, eh?

>Bah, come to think of it, it'll get more people into the game.

Hey, what about us horny adults? <smirk>

Seriously, if it doesn't frag over the SR world as we know it, makes FASA
lots of money and brings in some new players to the *real* SR RPG, then I'm
all for it.

Something with real role-playing and character advancement stuff would be
exceedingly cool, but that sort of thing will probably have to wait until
we see how Shadowrun: Assassin does.

I doubt it, but I can't say for sure. Except for the very big companies,
porting games to Mac doesn't happen all that often, and FASA Interactive
hardly counts as a big company. If a Mac version of Mechcommander is
released, then you can get your hopes up :)

We're in the minority. I'm hoping for a Playstation version to
counter this.

Reminds me of the first time I saw Diablo at a friends place. That kind of
interface/networking would be perfect for SR. Gathering a team from around
the world to conduct shadowruns!

I realize that I was (and probably still am) dreaming. But it would be
Sooo Great.

I think you can thank the comic industry for this trend. For the past
five years or so, comics have been devolving into soft porn. As far as
I know, it really took off around the time frame of Gen 13, Mantra, and
Lady Death. Sure, there were "bad girls" around before that, but main
feature comics in general feature a lot of skin. (Dark Chyld... UGH!)

In the see of "bad girl" drek, there is one shining light - Kabuki.

As for the computer game, Jill from Resident Evil and Lara from TR were
the first two big ones that got "raves" that I know of. Oh wait.
Sophia from Tekken.. Yeah, I guess the "fighter" genre was there first.

I hope the SR:Assassins comes out for the PSX. Hmm. I'd better get
started on Final Fantasy VII. :)

Hay, heres an idea for a new shadowrun game. If anybody has played
SimCopter, you know what I mean. The play is awsome when your walking
around the metros or the country. I walked around the countryside for
hours. WOW, what a waist of time. Anyways, back to SR. Incorporate a
mondosly huge character generator and interactive NPC's. Of coarse have
matrix and magic going on, and mabye a dragon or too.
